Dinner Break! McDonalds, Cannon Falls, MN
There’s a certain jolt of joy I get from finding an abandoned building that I wasn’t expecting, while out driving. When that building is abandoned due to a sudden disaster, it’s even more exciting and interesting… Cannon Falls McDonald’s is now closed. Which is notable mainly because of its former neighbor. Thanks to the significance of Curt’s Cannonball, I pay closer attention to this part of Cannon Falls, when we drive through. Despite having only a disappointing set of pictures, I wrote a story about Curt’s Cannonball a few years ago. The truck stop was demolished between 2019 and 2021, and new apartment buildings would replace it. This was Laura and my first trip to Rochester since March 2023. The apartments were still going up the last time we came through, but now had been finished and are now lived in. Then there is the McDonald’s directly behind it. Remaining open after the truck stop closed, and on after the intersection with highway 52 was closed off to cross traffic. ...
