Burger Time closed their drive-thru restaurant in West St. Paul, in November 2022. That location was their last in the Twin Cities metro area. A couple of years later, I started hearing rumors, then read confirmation that Burger Time was indeed coming back to the Twin Cities market. My immediate thought was: “Awesome!” Then I found out where the new location was… The northern suburban outskirt of Ham Lake. Uhhh… That’s not going to work at all… Former Coon Rapids Burger Time, January 1st, 2000. The drive-thru only burger restaurant opened in the spring of 1988, and closed in the summer of 1997. I ate there quite often when it was open. It was convenient to my location, reasonably priced and the food was good. It wasn’t amazing, unbelievable, blow you away good, it was good. It was Burger Time. Starting in January 2000, I started to follow the abandoned Burger Time building’s slow decay.
