Baseball Card Sorting - Orphans and Mutts
I’m sure this is a sentiment that many baseball card collectors (which isn’t the same as baseball card investors) have… What do you do with the cards that don’t fit into any of the 30 Major League Baseball teams? Some people probably just dump them in the trash, but I’ve always just thrown them into a separate box. One with a rather pointed label… Most of this stuff really is just worthless junk, but some of it is worth saving. But since they don’t have any specific team identification, they’ll remain segregated to their own “team” collection. A box labelled “Orphans and Mutts”. Where oddball baseball card subjects will sit side by side with random, worthless, wax pack junk, that I will keep for reasons. Some of which I’ll explain here! For example, how many 1992 Topps Match The Stats game cards are still around today? (Other than the ones still tucked inside unopened product.) Most people scratched them off, as soon as they flipped through the other 15 cards in the pack. Not to mentio...
